PoC in Dental is a nonprofit professional association supporting minority dental professionals through mentorship, community-building, and institutional dental school partnerships. 

About the Role

We're looking for a motivated pre-health or pre-dental college student (or recent grad exploring the field) for a hands-on internship with real deliverables — not shadowing. You'll work directly with the Founder & CEO on projects spanning research, writing, and outreach, gaining genuine nonprofit experience that strengthens dental/med school applications and builds your professional network. 

Depending on interests and skills, potential to also work with startup, DentalFynd. It is an NIH SBIR-backed startup, partnered with NYU College of Dentistry, that connects self-pay, high-deductible, and uninsured patients with fee-for-service dentists through prepaid, pre-verified appointments. 

What You'll Do

• Help co-author continuing-education (CE) content on dental health equity and access

• Support documentation and research tied to NIH SBIR-funded work

• Build and organize outreach and contact databases supporting partnership and investor efforts

• Support the launch and growth of a newsletter for the dental professional community

• Contribute to partnership research, advisory board recruitment, and outreach campaigns

• Optional: support event/CE programming coordination with academic partners (e.g., NYU College of Dentistry)

• Optional: together with DentalFynd, work at the intersection of health equity, dental care access, and entrepreneurship.

What We're Looking For

• High school junior or senior with strong academic standing, undergraduate (pre-health/pre-dental track preferred,) or recent college graduate

• Strong writing, research, marketing and organizational skills

• Genuine interest in health equity, dentistry, public health, or health-tech entrepreneurship

• Self-directed, reliable, and comfortable owning independent projects

• For college students: Involvement in SNDA, ASDA, or similar pre-health/pre-dental organizations a plus

• For high school students: Prior club, NHS, or volunteer experience a plus

Compensation

This is primarily an unpaid experiential learning opportunity. A small stipend, work-study placement, or academic-credit internship arrangement may be available depending on scope, duration, and your university's requirements.
